On January 29, 2024, a remarkable advancement in biotechnology was unveiled on the 108th anniversary of the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University: the MICROCAP - Fresh Air Powered By Nature.

We are thrilled to announce that our research work has been published in Scientific Reports (T1)! You can access the publication here. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the field of climate science, as our study introduces a novel combined method of chemical and biological carbon capture technologies, paving the way for enhanced carbon dioxide removal.

The 2nd International Symposium on Sustainable Algal Cultivation and Application (IS-SACAS) is happening on Jan 20–21, 2025, at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Titled “A SPECIAL EDITION FOR PHARMACEUTICALS, MEDICINE, HEALTH, AND NUTRITION,” this event brings together 16 international speakers who will present research and innovations in harnessing algae for various scientific and commercial applications, from pharmaceutical protein production to aquaculture feed, sustainable biofuel technology, and beyond.

Our team has achieved a significant milestone by reaching the final round of the #RIhackathon2024 competition for the first time! We are honored to be among the top 10 teams nationally. This accomplishment is thanks to the hard work of my PhD student, Tanakit Komkhum, and my friend, Treerat Vacharanukrauh, who beautifully brought our idea to life. I’m deeply grateful for their support. A special thanks to TSRI for the opportunity to showcase our research on a national level!

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pichaya Inna from Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Chemical Engineering and NIAB Lab PI will speak at the TIChE Live Channel: EP.41 event titled “Bioenergy & Biomass from Algae Technology.” This online event is scheduled for Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 19:00 to 20:00.

Mr. Kantaphan Punnaanan, a master’s student in Chemical Technology and NIAB Lab member under Assistant Professor Dr. Pichaya Inna, received the Outstanding Science Student Award (Graduate Level) from the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University on August 8, 2024. This honor recognizes his commendable academic and research contributions.

Congratulations to Dr. Pichaya Inna, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, on her appointment by the University Council to the position of Assistant Professor, effective May 18, 2023, at the 884th University Council meeting on February 29, 2024.

Prof. Dr. Kavalee Chotirat, Vice Dean for Planning, Strategy, Innovation, and International Affairs, had the honor of inaugurating the 1st International Symposium on Sustainable Algal Cultivation and Applications (1st IS-SACAS) at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University.

His outstanding project, ‘Cellucanopy,’ a bio-based plastic made from bacteria cellulose plaster, not only captured the attention of judges but also captured the hearts of everyone who values happiness and sustainable quality of life.
